I must
apologize. YES AGAIN. First let
me say how awesome it was at the BootCamp this past Saturday. The weather was
amazing and the workout was intense! You really need to come by to experience
just how amazing this is.
On to the
apology... Sometimes
I get ahead of myself. The Core Reaction BootCamp
website is a perfect example. I get so excited about what we are doing and
the progress we are making at Carter Fitness with the Core Reaction Bootcamp
that I forget that some people are looking at this stuff for the first time.
I will be going over the site over the next few days to make it as
straightforward as possible. So let me
clear up a few things right now. Basically,
we offer 2 versions of our BootCamp.
Why do we
do it this way? Simply put, we like to help people get in great shape, and
the Saturday fr.e.e BootCamp is a great introduction to fitness. The fun and
adventurous boot camps provide the ideal atmosphere for motivation and
emotional support to help the participants learn how fun fitness can be. It
can also be a great boost to an already established fitness regime. For those
who want to take it to the next level we offer the 5 times per week program.
You can come as little or as much as you like, including the free Saturday
BootCamp. This outdoor group fitness program offers outstanding fitness
instructions, nutritional coaching and a large helping of motivation to keep
you on track every step of the way. I hope
this helps to make things a bit more clear. If not let me know. See you
next Saturday - I’ll be there. Will you? Joshua
Carter Bring a
neighbor, friend, or family member - we're going to have a blast!
I’m not
sure how many of you know about this, but the grand opening of our Carter
Fitness facility has been marred by the actions of a local couple. We believe
them to be an older husband and wife team, and they launched an attack of
sorts against my facility. Let me explain. The Carter Fitness training center
is located on a corner that has fairly heavy traffic. So in an effort to
attract more business I put some signs up. They are 4’ x 5’ basic vinyl
banners mounted on some ply wood (so they won’t blow away). Nothing racy,
just a before and after pic with our contact info. I have contacted the city,
and they are well within the city regulations for size etc. The same
week I put up the sign a guy came in my place and started yelling at me. No
“hello” or anything, he just started in on me. Ok, fine. If you don’t like
the sign take it up with the city I said. He took off but I neglected to get
his name, which was a mistake. Within 20 minutes a woman we believe to be his
wife complained to the building owner. He said what I said- take it up with
the city. That week
my banners began to mysteriously end up in the street. Man, what heavy winds
I thought. I really had to nail those suckers down. Within a couple of days
the signs were gone. Damn wind. Then one
of my clients who work s in my building on the floor above me said it was not
the wind, he saw a lady tear them down and walk away with them. Damn lady.
Well I had no idea what her name was, so I had to keep my eyes peeled because
I knew what she looked like. She was as elusive as a ninja. For weeks no
luck. Then came the bootcamp… I made
very small “A” frame sign to promote our free bootcamp. I swear these people
have a “sign”radar of some sort. The first day it was up “Crime Fighter” Matt
(a trainer and manger at Carter Fitness) saw the original guy walking away
with our new bootcamp sign. Damn guy. Matt got it back without incident and
told the gentleman (I use the term loosely) that if he does it again we will
contact the police. I wasn’t there, but I’m told the man had a few choice
words for Matt. Then two
days later “Crime Fighter” Matt sees the woman walking away with our sign.
Unreal. I mean really- What is with these two? This time he was armed with a
digital camera and caught her in the act:
Once again
Matt retrieved our sign. What do these people have against me? I have no
idea. My signs promote my business of course, but my business is improving
people’s health. Maybe they hate health. And they comply with all city
regulations – I made sure. There is s cigarette shop a block down that has a
sign out, but apparently they have no problem with that. I want to respect my
community and respect my neighbors but come on. My ultimate goal is to
improve my community and give something back. I just don’t know what to make
of this. After Matt
got our sign back the police were contacted. They came and took a statement,
and told us they would pay her a visit. The matter is not yet resolved, but
hopefully will be very soon. I still do not know her name (or her husband’s)
or where they live, and it does not really matter. I just want to run my
business helping others and have my signs to stay where they are. They should
find someone else to harass. I hear there is a cancer clinic opening near by,
maybe they’ll have a sign.
There's no
place like home..... Joshua

How
effective has your training been? At Carter
Fitness we have the solution:
Resistance Training trumps Aerobics for most effective F.A.T.
B.U.R.N. Most
people have only one thing on their mind when they join a gym or approach a
personal trainer…fat-loss.
With more than half of the adult population registering as overweight it is
no wonder that fat loss is such a hot topic.
But what
about F.A.T. B.U.R.N.? Here are the two reasons that resistance training is
the most effective way to B.U.R.N. F.A.T.
Now I know
debt isn't usually a word that we enjoy…but in this case I'm sure you will
agree that it's a great thing. Resistance training puts your body into oxygen
debt which means you will B.U.R.N. F.A.T. as you recover from your workout.
And this effect can last quite awhile - studies have shown an increase in
calorie burning for up to three days following a resistance training workout.
The other
way that F.A.T. B.U.R.N. is accomplished with resistance training is through
an increase in your resting metabolism. You see, lean tissue (muscle)
requires many more calories each day than fatty tissue. In fact, one pound of
muscle burns 30-50 calories each day at rest - compared to a measly 9
calories per pound of fat. Restaurant Rating Not
all restaurants are created equal! Buffet style restaurants, for example,
encourage overeating and typically do not offer healthy choices. When you are
planning to eat out make sure that you choose a restaurant that supports your
healthy lifestyle. Raspberry Chicken Salad
This
chicken salad really packs a punch. The dressing is a bit tangy, and the
tender chicken slices have a fruity flavor. All in all this meal is a winner
for lunch or dinner. Best of all it is ready in a snap. Yields: 4 servings
