INTRODUCING
JOSH’S AWESOME BALLS!!! Just
so you know, that title was suggested by a client who sampled my awesome
balls. And truth be told, this is not my recipe, so they are not really my
balls at all. None the less these
little suckers rock. I got the recipe
from T-Nation.com which is an incredible
site you should check out. They are
simple to make, high in fiber, high in EFA’s and protein and will satisfy your chocolate and/or peanut butter craving.
Here’s how to make them: 1
Jar natural peanut butter (organic is always best) ½ Cup ground flax seeds (flax meal) Mix
all the ingredients in a big bowl.
Make sure you include the oil form the peanut butter, or replace it
with an equivalent amount of flax seed oil. It should create a big dough-like
lump. Pinch off a little bit and roll
it into a ball about half the size of a walnut or so. It should make 30 -40 balls. Place all the
balls on a cookie sheet and stick it in the freezer. This is so they do not
stick together. After an hour or so
you can transfer them to a plastic container and store in your freezer. One
or two after dinner hits the spot.
Enjoy.
Client: I want to be able to see abs in 8 weeks. Josh: No problem! Josh : Oh, yours.
I love Stanford. It’s my home town after all. It is actually where I wanted to go to
college, then I found out how much it cost.
Anyway, I still love Stanford (as much as a Bruin can anyway.) So the fine folks at Stanford Med conducted
a study which unequivocally proved that I am really smart. That was not the intention of the study of
course, but hey who am I to argue with Stanford? Ok, here’s the real low down: They randomly assigned 311 overweight women
(with an average age of 40) to one of 4 diets- Atkins, Zone, LEARN or Ornish
diet. The women were tracked for a
period of one year. The goal was to
test the effects of diets that spanned a range in carbohydrate content from
low to high. This was no rinky dink operation. It was a 2 million dollar study that was
designed specifically to mirror real life conditions. The women had to buy
and prepare all their meals. And just
as in real life the compliance was not 100%. And the cool part (the part that proves I
am rally smart) is the low carb diet kicked ass. It had almost double the fat loss of the
next best diet. And that is only half the coolness- the other half is that
the low carb dieters also experienced the highest benefits in terms of
cholesterol and blood pressure. That
is simply outstanding. Now to many this is not really news. For years top trainers (hint) have used
carb modification as the cornerstone of their fat loss nutrition
programs. The results can be simply
incredible. It is nice however to have
a major university study back you up.
You’d think I’d get tired of always being right, but no J You
can read more about the study as well as see video clips of the researchers
